A Note on My Process

I want practical leaders who pursue real, fact-based solutions rather than offer vague promises without a feasible plan.  Although an exhaustive list of all the issues I care about would be exhausting (or so my daughter tells me), here are a few:

• Respond to climate change.  Reduce GHG emissions (in the energy, transportation, building and agricultural sectors) and prepare for changes (e.g., sea level rise).

• Raise taxes, mainly on the rich because they have most of the wealth.  We need to pay for government services we want, but instead Congress has borrowed $40 trillion. 

• Improve and fund education.  With automation and AI threatening jobs, more education, including vocational, is our best chance for meaningful work.

• Regulate AI, which has great promise, but also could pose grave risks.

• Fix Social Security, which won’t be able to pay full benefits after 2032.

• Uphold the rule of law.  Use Congress’ power of the purse to enforce it.
